Hazlehurst Centre offers a comprehensive service for children and young people in Leeds, Wakefield, Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale who have experienced unwanted sexual contact such as rape, sexual assault or sexual abuse. Appointments and referrals can be made by calling us on 0330 223 0099. Our phone lines are always open 24/7, 365 days a year.
If you are 16 or older, you can make an appointment to come to the centre without a referral from a professional. If you are under 16, you will need to be referred to the centre by a social care professional or the police. Although children and young people under 16 must be referred into our centre by the police and/or social care, other agencies (e.g. health or education) can contact our service for advice.
If you are concerned about a child and would like them to attend our service, please follow the guidance below.
If the child or young person is 15 or under, contact the police and children’s social care (who will arrange an appointment at the SARC). A parent or carer must attend the appointment with their child.
If the young person is 16 or older, you can still contact the police or social care, but the young person can also self-refer. You can help them to do this by contacting us directly on 0330 223 0099.
All cases will involve a strategy meeting, facilitated by our Strategy Coordinator.
